She worked as specialist consultant and research engineer at the engineering consultancy Buro Happold in London for eight years, where she co-founded the Generative Geometry Unit. As a researcher, Katrin focuses on the development and verification of generative and selective computational processes and their transfer to the built environment. Katrin developed TESSA with a team of engineers and computer scientists based on an original idea from 2004.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Tim Stonor<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>Partner<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"mailto:tim.stonor@tessalogic.com\">tim.stonor@tessalogic.com<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Tim is an architect and urban planner who has devoted his career to the development and application of computer-based design techniques. Tim is Managing Director of the strategic consulting firm Space Syntax Limited, which uses software models to forecast the impact of architectural and urban design decisions on human behaviour patterns in buildings and cities. Tim is a director of The Academy of Urbanism and a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Development<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>Designing architectural surfaces which are complex (and aesthetically pleasing) yet simple and economical to construct, is a major challenge in the engineering design industry. TESSA addresses this by allowing complex surfaces to be realised from a constrained library of customised, tessellating parts. TESSA is based on research in the fields of computation, engineering and architectural design with a focus on non-orthogonal surfaces in the construction industry.
